Merlin’s Staff is one of the strongest fishing rods in Fisch, made for late-game players who want good stats and access to magical mutation. It isn’t found in chests or dropped by enemies – you need to craft it through the NPC Merlin after collecting several rare materials. This guide explains exactly what you need and how to get it.
Merlin’s Staff in Fisch
Where to Start

To begin, travel to Sunstone Island, where you’ll find the NPC Merlin in a small hut near the top of the island. Merlin is a high-tier crafting and trading NPC who offers advanced magical items. You must be far enough into the game for his dialogue and crafting options to appear.
Materials Needed for Merlin’s Staff
To craft Merlin’s Staff, you must bring Merlin the following items:
- Shard of Time
- Anomalous Log
- Iron Chunk
- 1,000,000 C$
Once all of these are in your inventory, Merlin will allow you to create the Staff from his crafting menu.
How to Get the Items
Shard of Time: Found in the Chasm by solving the Pedestal puzzle. You need to place the Radiant Crystal, Cut Gem and Rough Geode on the pedestal for this.
Anomalous Log: Head to the Ancient Isle and find the pond there. With a fishing rod that’s enchanted with the Exalted Anomalous enchantment, fish with the Magnet bait and there’s a chance of obtaining the Anomalous Log.
Iron Chunk: This item can be caught by fishing in the Mineshaft in The Chasm (X: 872, Y: 109, Z: 980). Its rarity is Common so it should be easily obtainable.

Because all three materials are late-game, be prepared to spend a lot of time trying to collect them. Once done, return to Merlin on Sunstone Island.
Open his shop or dialogue menu and select the option related to “Merlin’s Staff.” Choose the crafting option. The materials and coins will be consumed, and Merlin will hand you your new Staff.
