The Electric Eel is good to increase the power limit of your generators but finding it is, unfortunately, not a quick task. Since it’s a deviant, you’ll need to get an Electric Eel in Once Human through a special Fishing Event. They are quite slippery creatures and catching them can be frustrating. Here’s how to make it happen.
How to Get an Electric Eel in Once Human
These are the requirements to fulfill before heading out to fish this deviant:
- Fishing Rod: You’ll need a fishing rod to participate in the Fishing Event. Craft the Fishing Rod at a Supplies Workbench using 20x Logs and 10x Copper Ingots and drag it to your hotbar.
- Bait: Using bait increases your chances of catching the Electric Eel Deviant. You can try using Dough Fish bait (it needs 1x Corn which can be obtained from the Meyer’s Market area) or Basic bait. You can craft baits or you can directly purchase them from a vendor NPC (Margerie in Meyer’s Market to be specific) in exchange for Energy Links.
How to Catch the Electric Eel
- Check if a Fishing event is going on, you can see it on the map itself.
- If the event is far away, you can use the “Teleport” option within the event details to travel there directly (this one is free of charge).
- Once at the event location, find a body of water and interact with it using your Fishing Rod. This will initiate a fishing mini-game.
- Be patient and keep fishing. It can take 5 minutes, 10 minutes or even more. With some luck (and possibly good bait), you’ll catch the Electric Eel Deviant.
Fishing Events occur periodically, so look for them regularly. Some players believe fishing in higher-level areas like Red Sands or Chalk Peak might increase your chances of catching the Electric Eel, but this hasn’t been confirmed. It’s worth trying out though.
Once you catch the Electric Eel Deviant, it will be placed in your inventory. You can then store it in a special unit at your base, where it will passively improve the output of your generators.
A fishing event is not the only way to get Electric Eel—you can also obtain it from any water body if you’re normally fishing with some bait. So make sure to try your luck!
