The developers of Grow a Garden are consistently adding new mutations with every new major update, and one such mutation is called Disco. If you’ve seen fruits changing colors on the neighbouring players’ gardens, while looking bright like the Shocked variant, that is the Disco mutation. Here’s what you should know about getting it and how much it boosts the value of fruits.
How to Get Disco Mutation in Grow a Garden?
The Disco mutation, at the time of writing, can only be triggered by Jandel, the developer of the game. This is possible through commands initiated by the admin, and players aren’t able to trigger it or see it occur naturally (yet).
Most recently, when the Blood Moon update had just dropped, the developer was online and sending messages in-game. As the number of concurrent players grew and even hit more than 4 million, the developer initiated the Disco mutation, where the ground’s lighting changed colors. This gave a chance for some of the fruits to get the changing colors as well. Interestingly, the players started dancing automatically during this event (the music changed to “Raining Tacos”), and it was quite a funny sight to see.
The Disco mutation has the biggest multiplier value as of now, giving your fruit a 125x boost, which goes even higher if it’s already Shocked, Frozen, Celestial, or more.
If you want to keep the Disco fruit in your garden and avoid collecting it accidentally, it’s recommended to use the Favorite Tool. It can be purchased from the Gear Shop, and if it’s in stock, it will cost you 20,000,000 Sheckles. It has 20 uses, meaning you can favorite 20 Fruits with it. This way, you can press E to collect various fruits in your garden, but the one with the Disco mutation will stay on the plant/tree with a Heart icon on it.
Unfortunately, ‘favorited’ fruits can still be stolen by other players, but as per the Grow a Garden wiki, instead of giving them the fruit, they get 100 Sheckles instead.
This was everything to know about the Disco mutation in Grow a Garden. Whether this is added as an actual in-game ‘weather’ or not, remains to be seen.
