How To Catch Snapping Turtles In Animal Crossing New Horizons

Published Date :

Catching Turtles is more or less like catching fishes in Animal Crossing New Horizons. Fishing is a huge part of Animal Crossing New Horizons and while there are plenty of fishes in the water, you can also catch turtles and get rewarded handsomely for your efforts. This guide will show you how to catch turtles in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Where to find and Catch Snapping Turtles

To catch turtles early in the game, you need to have a fishing pole with you and you will require to be at the river at a specific time and date depending on what time of turtle you wish to catch.

There are two types of turtles in Animal Crossing New Horizons, the soft-shelled turtle and the snapping turtle and both these turtles have their own unique price point if you wish to sell them for Bells.

How To Catch Soft-shelled Turtle In Animal Crossing New Horizons

More than anything, catching turtles requires you to visit the river at the time between 4 PM to 9 AM in the months of August and September in the Northern Hemisphere and in the months of February and March in the Southern Hemisphere.

While this isn’t possible right now, you can always use the time travel trick to change the date and time of your Nintendo Switch console to be exactly on the day and time mentioned above.

The soft-shelled turtle is of medium length and finding it can be a bit painful when you are surrounded by fish of the same size. It is advisable that you cross over the river using your pole vault and staying away from a river mouth or the origins of the river.

The soft-shelled turtle can be sold for about 3750 Bells in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Like mentioned above, you will have to go a bit far away from the fishes and crossing the river is recommended however the turtle size is large and can only be found during 9 PM to 4 AM in the months of April to October in the Northern Hemisphere and from October to April in the Southern Hemisphere.

The snapping turtle will cast a large shadow and can be sold for about 5000 Bells in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
