Let’s take a quick look at where to find Horsetail in Son of The Forest.

Like all other plants in the game, Horsetail is scattered all over the island. But the place where it can be found in abundance is on the grassy plains west of the Snow Mountains. Make your way to the rivers on the western part of the island, Horsetail can be found along these rivers. Since the plant is long and thin, it tends to blend into the grass surrounding it, making it difficult to spot the first time around.

Players will have to consume the plant the first time to permanently identify it the next time around. Consuming the plant will give players a small amount of energy. But the primary use of Horsetail is to make Health Mix+. This is an extremely useful consumable to have in your inventory while exploring the island and can be the difference between life and death. Combine Horsetail with Fireweed and Aloe Vera to make yourself the Health Mix+.

While out collecting Horestail you might even find some seeds. These will be of great use in the long run as you can now plant your own Horsetail plants on your base. While you can only carry 10 plants at once, there is no limit to the number of plants you can grow. Farming your own herbs at the base is a great way to keep your supplies in check.
