It is certain that Google is trying to take gaming to the next level and with their Stadia platform they intend to bring gaming to every household. This is a wonderful thing in theory but it still remains to be seen in actual use.
But in a recent FAQ on the Stadia page, there was a question which asked what will happen to the games after the developer stops supporting them. According to Google, you will still be able to play the game.
“Yes. Once you purchase the game, you own the right to play it. In the future, it is possible that some games may no longer be available for new purchases, but existing players will still be able to play the game. Outside of unforeseen circumstances, Stadia will aim to keep any previously purchased title available for gameplay”.
In the past, many iconic games have disappeared from the game stores without a trace after the developers gave up on them or something just made supporting the games unsuitable, but with these claims, Google is trying to establish the confidence in its customer base they will keep the game as long as feasible.
If done perfectly this will certainly be a great thing, these claims made by Google will certainly put other platforms such as Microsoft and Sony on high alert.
