Can You Go Back To Act 1 In Baldur’s Gate 3? – Answered

Published Date :

Baldur’s Gate 3 features a long and engaging story that is divided into 3 Acts. Each of these Acts takes place in different locations and has its own side content for exploration. Even Act 1, which is said to be a warm-up phase of the game, has plenty of side quests and other explorable. It is easy for a first-timer to miss out on such things in Act 1 and move to Act 2. Several fans are aware of this now they are curious to know if it’s possible to go back to Act 1 in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Well, the answer to this question is quite complicated and you won’t know it thoroughly until you have reached the end of Act 2. But don’t worry, we have got the answers you need. Read on here to know if you can go back to Act 1 in BG3.

Is it Possible to Go Back to Act 1 in BG3?

Can You Go Back To Act 1 In Baldur's Gate 3

Yes, it is possible to go back to Act 1 but there’s a catch. BG3 has Points of No Return which means that after doing a certain quest, you won’t be able to get back to previous Acts. For Act 1, the point of No Return is triggered when you reach the Shadow-Cursed Lands after passing through the Underdark or Mountain Pass. You will basically receive a notification asking you to complete any remaining activity in your current Act 1 (refer to the image above).

But it is worth mentioning that you can still get back to the Act 1 Areas if you continue thereon. However, you won’t be able to complete some quests as they will be locked out. Once you begin with Act 2, certain NPCs will change location and hence, their quests in Act 1 Areas will disappear. So if you truly want to explore everything in Act 1, do it before you enter the Shadow-Cursed Lands.

If you are thinking that you will go back to Act 1 Areas after completing the story then you simply can’t. In Act 2, when you complete the Gauntlet of Shar and are about to start looking for the Nightsong, you will receive the message again. But this time, the Act 1 Areas will be locked completely.

So if you want to go back from Act 2 to Act 1 in Baldur’s Gate 3, and explore even parts of it, I suggest you do it before the Balthazar Boss Fight. Because, after that, the only way to enter Act 1 is by starting a new Game.
