The Ghostly Mutation is a seasonal, high-value mutation for plants in Grow a Garden – crops affected by it gain a massive value multiplier (about x25) and take on a spectral appearance. It was introduced during the Halloween “Ghoul Garden” event and because it’s tied to limited-time content, unlocking it gives you a gameplay boost and bragging rights.
How to Obtain the Ghostly Mutation
There are two ways to get it:
1. Planting the Great Pumpkin

During the Halloween/Ghoul Garden event, the seed for the Great Pumpkin appears in the Seed Shop (check frequently while the event is live). It costs a whopping 100,000,000,000 Sheckles or 1199 Robux and is of the Transcendent tier, so it appears very rarely.
Once you plant and grow the Great Pumpkin in your garden, it will automatically apply the Ghostly Mutation to other nearby crops at regular intervals (around every 5 minutes or so).
For best results, plant multiple Great Pumpkins in your garden to increase the frequency of the mutation spreading and place them next to high-value crops.
2. Using a Ghostly-Mutated Pet
You can also obtain a pet that has the Ghostly Mutation effect built-in. It can be hatched from the Ghostly Premium Spooky Egg that has a hatch time of 30 seconds and can be obtained from the Premium Spooky Egg at a 1% chance.
Since the chance is so low and you need to spend Robux for it, this method is not recommended. It’s best to follow the path of the Great Pumpkin instead.
Is It Worth It?
Yes – very much so. If you’re in the late game and have access to high-value crops, getting the Ghostly Mutation can be valuable. The 25x multiplier (approx) means your profits go through the roof, and the mutation also helps with event achievements. If you’re mid- or early-game, you might want to wait until you have a solid garden and high-value crops ready.
