Where to Get Thestrals in Hogwarts Legacy (Locations)
Players can get the Thestrals by visiting the dens on the map. Since these dens require a lot of exploration, we’ve listed the locations of Thestrals below:
- North Ford Bog
- Marunween Lake
Before looking for these skeletal horses, make sure you’ve completed the main quest called “The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom”. By doing so, you’ll get a Nab-Sack from Deek the Elf. You can use this bag to rescue the magical creatures and send them to the Vivariums in the Room of Requirement. There, you can interact with them to get their droppings or use them as a mount.
How to Get Thestral Hair
You can get the Hair by nurturing the creatures in the Room of Requirement. Head over to the Vivarium to tame, feed, and pet them and they will drop their hair. You can also get Thestral Hair in Hogwarts Legacy by purchasing them at the Brood and Peck shop for 400 Galleons.
You can use the Hair to create Traits and upgrade your Gear with the Enchanted Loom in the Room of Requirement. According to the HP lore, it is also one of the most powerful wand cores. Notably, it was the core of the Elder Wand, the strongest wand in the existence.
How To Ride the Thestral in Hogwarts Legacy (PS4, Xbox, PC)
To ride the Thestral in Hogwarts Legacy:
- Hold LB / L2 / Tab to open the Tool Wheel menu.
- Hit the assigned button next to the image of the Thestral to summon it.
- Press A / X / Space to fly.
- You can also get a speed boost by pressing L2 / LT / LMB.
Note that you cannot ride the Thestral or any mount before completing the main quest called “The High Keep”.
