The Snail is one of the most sought-after pets in Grow a Garden due to its rare status and intriguing seed-boosting ability. Here’s what you need to know about this animal, how to get it in your garden, and the best way to use its effect.
How to Get the Snail Pet in Grow a Garden

The Snail is categorized as a Mythical pet, and it can only be hatched from Bug Eggs (which cost a whopping 50 million Sheckles each), with a 40 percent chance of appearing each time you crack one open. It was added to the game on May 3, 2025, as part of the Animal Update (version 1.04.0), and quickly became popular among gardeners because of its trait description.
The ability states that the Snail grants about a five percent extra chance that any plant you harvest will drop an additional seed. This bonus applies to all standard and seasonal crops, though it does not work on limited-time event plants (such as Candy Blossom). It will only give the seeds of the plant you have harvested and not of other rare crops. So, you can use it for plants like Carrots or Watermelons.
However, the Snail has been receiving mixed reactions over time because many aren’t getting any seeds from this pet. The community has noted that the seed drops for only the first batch of harvest in each location for a multi-harvest plant. Post that, the seeds won’t drop. Also, the passive stacks if you have multiple snails in your garden.
Visually, the Snail has a beige colored body and two eye stalks, along with a brown shell, giving a unique look to your garden when it’s moving about. Its favorite food is Frozen variants of fruits, so use them when the Hunger level of this animal is high.
The Animals update that came after the Hungry Plant update added Pets and Eggs, and here’s what you should know about them, including the Praying Mantis. You can also use this Pets Tier list to know which pet animals will be most beneficial for your garden.
