Until now, Stardew Valley players could own only one pet. You will receive your first pet on a Friday morning in Spring after earning 1,000 Gold or on the first sunny Wednesday. However, players are pleasantly surprised that you can get more pets in Stardew Valley without installing mods.

This new feature was added during the 1.6 update. Here’s everything you need to do to get multiple pets.

How To Get Multiple Pets In Stardew Valley

You will need to ensure you have completed a few important steps to get more pets in Stardew Valley:

  1. Adopt your First pet
  2. Maximize your Relationship with the Pet
  3. Buy another Pet Bowl
  4. Visit Marnie’s shop

Adopt your First pet

As mentioned earlier, you will get your first pet on a Friday morning in Spring after reaching 1,000 Gold or on the first sunny Wednesday. Additionally, you can choose the animal you want as your pet during Character Creation. Based on this, Marnie will bring this pet to your farm.

Maximize your Relationship with the Pet

Now that you know about the adoption process, the next step is to maximize your relationship with your first pet. Your pet will have a maximum friendship level of 1000; as a result, you can easily reach this level by petting it and filling its water bowl regularly. You can access the Animals tab in your Menu to check your progress and the hearts you have earned.

Buy another Pet Bowl

Once you have reached the maximum level of friendship with your first pet, purchase another water bowl from Robin. To purchase this item, you must spend 5000 Gold and 25 Hardwood.

Visit Marnie’s shop

After you have completed all the steps mentioned above, you can make your way to Marnie’s Shop. Here, you can adopt another pet.
