The requirement of Genshin Impact is that you need to be at Adventure Rank 16 to enable multiplayer mode in the game, without this there is no way you will be able to join your friends and enjoy the wonderful world this game offers.
Be careful as the Adventure Rank differs from the character levels in Genshin Impact, your character levels are independent ranks and do not reflect upon the overall completion of the game.
Only when you’ve successfully spent a good chunk of hours in Genshin Impact will you be able to unlock multiplayer mode in the game.
To access the multiplayer mode, you will have to click on the small star icon on the top left side of the screen on your consoles. Otherwise, you can just press F2 on your PC and access it.
In the multiplayer mode, you get the option to show what type of players you want to join your game. You can keep this to be just friends, you can allow players to join directly or require permissions and you can search your friends through their IDs as well.
Up to 4 players can join a game at a time and your party can take on monsters, complete a dungeon run, or just explore the wonderful world that you are offered.
You can even join your friends’ game in the multiplayer mode but you won’t be able to open chests, take nemoculi, geoculi, or even make an offering to the Statues of the Seven.
