Pokemon Sun and Moon introduced players to much much-awaited Alola region. The region expanded the Pokedex entries with the introduction of the seventh generation of Pokemon. However, it was the Alolan starters that players were more eager to learn about and to know which is the best Pokemon amongst the Gen 7 starters in Sun and Moon.

The starter Pokemon even in Alola follow the same traditional setup of three different types – fire, water & grass. However, as you evolve them further in their final forms, the Gen 7 starters have a secondary type. This makes things interesting for players since they will have two types of attacks at their disposal. The Gen 7 Starters that players will come across before they embark on their journey in the Alola region are Rowlet, Litten & Popplio. Here is what you should know about them:

Rowlet

Rowlet is a grass and flying type Pokemon that resembles a young owl with a round body and small legs. The avian Pokemon can be used to counter against fighting, water, and grass type Pokemon and you will find it to be immune to all ground attacks. However, the starter falls short against flying, poison, rock, fire, and ice type Pokemon. Here are all of its base stats:

  • HP: 68
  • Attack: 55
  • Defense: 55
  • Sp. Atk: 50
  • Sp. Def: 50
  • Speed: 42

Litten

Litten Base Stats And Evolutions

Litten is a fire type Pokemon that resembles car with a black fur. It has the best counter against Bug, Steel, Fire, Grass, Ice & Fairy type Pokemon. However, the start can be weak to ground, rock, and water type attacks. Here are all of its base stats:

  • HP: 45
  • Attack: 65
  • Defense: 40
  • Sp. Atk: 60
  • Sp. Def: 40
  • Speed: 70

Popplio

Popplio Base Stats And Evolutions

Popplio is a water type Pokemon that resembles a sea lion with a small head, large eyes, and a red nose. Players can use the Pokemon to counter attacks from steel, fire, water, and ice Pokemon. However, you will find Popplio to be weaker around grass and electric type Pokemon. Here are all of its base stats:

  • Attack: 54
