How to Fix Baldur’s Gate 3 Can’t Move Characters Bug

baldur's gate 3 cant move bug fix bg3

You can fix the can’t move in BG3 by reloading an older save file when your character could move or had movement. If you don’t have an older save, update Baldur’s Gate 3 to the latest version to apply any recent hotfixes to fix this bug. But if that didn’t resolve the bug for you, there might be other reasons for this issue.

So, here are all the workarounds to fix the Baldur’s Gate 3 can’t move character bug:

Restart the Game

  • If you don’t have any old saves that are not bugged, restarting the game might resolve this issue.
  • We also suggest restarting your PC or PS5 console.

Verify Game Files Integrity

Since it worked out for some players, verifying the game files integrity can fix this bug or glitch. Rather than reinstalling the entire game, this process re-downloads all the corrupt and missing files.

  • For Steam:
    • Launch Steam > Right-click on Baldur’s Gate 3 > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files.
  • For GOG:
    • Launch GOG Galaxy Client > Library > Select BG3 > More > Manage > Verify / Repair Game Files.

Start a New Game

However, if your character can’t move in BG3, you can start a new game as a last resort. Since many players faced this bug as early as when getting past the transponder, we recommend doing the Save scumming quite often.

Contact Larian Studios

If none of the above workarounds resolve the bug, we recommend contacting Larian Studios. Over there, select the Larian Support section and explain the bug you are facing by attaching a screenshot or video file. Once you have reported the issue, wait for some time until the devs revert you with a suitable workaround.
