How to catch Leedsichthys easily is one of the most asked questions in Fisch. Even though players are constantly finding many varieties of new massive fish species daily, none are as impressive and sought-after in the game as the Leedsichthys.
As the Bestiary Entry says, this colossal, plankton-feeding fish from the Jurassic period is one of the largest fish ever to exist. So considering its rarity and unpredictable behavior, the Leedsichthys requires planning, patience, skill, and the right equipment to reel in. So in this article, we will look at everything you need to know about how to catch a Leedsichthys in Fisch, including its location and strategies required to successfully capture this legendary fish.
How to Catch Leedsichthys in Fisch
The best and easiest way to catch Leedsichthys in Fisch is during the day when it’s foggy using Squid bait at the top of Ancient Isle’s waterfall.
You can use the ziplines to easily get up there, however, be careful while traveling to Ancient Isle because the sea will have dangerous elements popping up that can damage and even sink your boat.
Due to the fish’s rarity, it moves erratically across the fishing bar, making it a challenging catch. A -25% progress speed decrease is inflicted on the player when catching. We highly recommend you use Squid (Bait) to easily hook a Leedsichthys. The Squid bait increases preferred luck by 55, universal luck by 45 and decreases lure speed by 25. This bait can be found in Bait Crates, Common Crates and Quality Bait Crates and you can also get it from the Angler NPC.
As the average weight of Leedsichthys in Fisch is around 1814.7kg, from a minimum being 971.5kg to a maximum of 2657.9kg, we suggest you equip an appropriate Fishing Rod. So it would be best to avoid all Early Game rods including ones you find in Moosewood, like Flimsy Rod, Training Rod, Plastic Rod, Carbon Rod, Long Rod, Fast Rod, Lucky Rod, as none of them Max kg support over 600kg.
The same goes for the Stone Rod which you can find at Ancient Isle. Even though it costs C$3,000, its max capacity is 900kg. The Phoenix Rod is the quickest one you can buy in the Ancient Isle, with over 55% lure speed, which helps in catching a Leedsichthys. But it will set you back C$40,000. If you are low on cash there are other mid-game Rods you can use to accommodate the base weight of Leedsichthys at around 971 kg.
Now you have your Bait, and Fishing Rod ready, now it the time to go to the top of the Ancient Isle’s pond (Coords: X: 6072, Y: 443.9, Z: 684.91). You can reach the top of the waterfall by climbing and using several connected ziplines. Keep following the ziplines till you find a pond at the top of the waterfall. This is the same location where you can find the Solar Fragment during a Solar Eclipse event.
When hooked, a “Legendary Exclamation” icon will pop above the player’s head, and a bell sound is played – as with all Legendary fish. Also, note that some Leedsichthys mutations can only be obtained through specific Rods. Leedsichthys mutations increase its selling price and usually change its appearance like other fish types in your Bestiary.
In a nutshell, a basic fishing rod simply won’t cut it for a fish of this size. Invest in the best fishing rod (such as the Steady Rod) to ensure it can handle the Leedsichthys’ weight and strength. Stock up on Squid, which is known to be effective in attracting Leedsichthys, and head to Ancient Isle to catch this creature.
