Fallout 4: Where To Find Bobby Pins And How To Use Them

Published Date :

After you start your playthrough the second mission you get is When Freedom Calls. Here one of the tasks is to break into the security room which you find will be locked. That is when you will start wondering where you can find Bobby Pins in Fallout 4.

It is a miscellaneous item, which is often made of plastic or metal. Originally they served the purpose of keeping hair in place, but that was before the Great War. Now though, the times have changed and they are used for lockpicking. But before we check how to use them, here is how you can get your hands on some.

How to Get Bobby Pins in Fallout 4

You can find Bobby pins as loot from suitcases, behind mirrors in the Sanctuary, and typically within the vicinity of locks. In case you don’t want to rely on RnG for randomly getting them, you can always trade it with merchants like Trashcan Carla and Trudy.

Where to Find Bobby Pins in the Early Game?

As mentioned, one of the first times you will need it is for getting into the security room, and nearby there is a Cigarette machine where you can find it:

  1. Turn back from the security room and go up the stairs.
  2. Next turn left twice and keep going straight.
  3. Jump down the open area and turn back.
  4. Here, you should find a box of Bobby Pins on the Cigarette Machine.
  5. Pick it up and it will be added to your inventory.

How to Use Bobby Pins in Fallout 4

The main use of Bobby Pins in this game is to pick locks. Basically, you start from the left, let us say from 9:00 O’clock, and can go all the way up to 3:00 O’clock. Slowly keep moving the pin from one end to another and in between keep using the screwdriver to open the lock. Be careful to not apply too much force because that can lead to your pin breaking. Find the right resistance spot and this will lead to the lock opening.

Aside from that, you can also exchange them for bottlecaps.

There you have it, that basically sums up everything you should know about Bobby Pins. Speaking of basic essentials, you should also check out how to get purified water if you are looking for a quick way to restore your HP.
