In the new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can roam the lands of Paldea freely. That gives you the freedom to encounter and catch new Pokemon. Gengar has been a fan-favorite since the first generation of Pokemon. But getting one isn’t so easy. You can catch a Gastly and evolve it into Haunter, but then Gengar evolution is a bit tricky. To help you, in this article, we will tell you how to evolve Haunter in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to Evolve Haunter into Gengar in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Get Gengar in Pokemon SV

If you have played the previous iterations of this game, then you must know the process of evolving your Haunter. If you are a new player then there are two sure ways to get Gengar. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can evolve Haunter by trading it with another trainer. Once the trade is done, your Haunter will automatically evolve into Gengar. Then, that trainer will have to send the Gengar back to you via trade. Trading in this game is quite easy. You can do it through the Poke Portal in your Main Menu. Make sure you trade with someone you trust since you cannot evolve it any other way.

Gengar can be a great addition to your team. This Ghost/Poison dual-type Pokemon is immune to Normal and Fighting-type attacks. Its massive Special Attack and Speed stats make it a perfect Special Sweeper on your team.

Get Gengar without Trading

You can get Gengar even if you don’t have someone to trade with. You can get it from an NPC in Levincia in exchange for a Pincurchin. The beach to the South of Levincia is where we recommend you look for it. Then, head over to the NPC standing next to the Harbor and trade the Pincurchin for her Haunter. Upon trading in Scarlet and Violet, the Haunter will evolve into Gengar.
