Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How To Evolve Gimmighoul

Here is our guide on how to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has given fans new and amazing Ghost-type Pokemon. But nothing quite beats the attention that Gimmighoul has garnered since the game’s release. If that wasn’t enough, Gimmighoul also has a fascinating evolution in Gholdengo. But many fans are puzzled since its evolution is far from ordinary. Hence, we’re here to help you out with a guide on how to evolve Gimmighoul in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

How to Evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Gimmighoul can mostly appear next to some of the many ruins scattered across Paldea. Once you have a Gimmighoul, evolving it into Gholdengo is not as easy as you might think. Most other Pokemon are evolved by simply training and then leveling them up. But getting Gholdengo is a whole different ball game. Landing this ‘Coin Entity Pokemon’ will require you to collect 999 Gimmighoul Coins from wild Gimmighoul around the map.

Gimmighoul is an odd Pokemon because it has two forms – the Roaming Form and the Chest Form. The Roaming Form can give trainers only 5-6 coins and moreover, you can’t find it in any single spot. You’ll be lucky if you come across it randomly. But keep in mind it’s impossible to catch them, they will drop a few Gimmighoul Coins before running away from you. Be sure to pick them up. The Chest Form on the other hand, will give you at least 50–60 coins after you manage to beat them. They can usually be found among ruins and atop various watchtowers around the region in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Whenever you level up next, it will immediately evolve to Gholdengo – a Ghost and Steel type Pokemon. It also has a unique ability called ‘Good as Gold’. This gives Gholdengo immunity from any status moves that are used by its opponents.
