Epic Games have been feeding off their high since they released Fortnite back in 2017 and they are showing no sign of slowing down, Epic Games recently announced that Metro Exodus will be exclusively available on their store for PC gamers. This comes as a shock as the game was already listed on Steam, though it would not be the first time since Epic Games have already taken Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 from Steam.
Steam released a statement on this subject stating,
Notice: Sales of Metro Exodus have been discontinued on Steam due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store.
The developer and publisher have assured us that all prior sales of the game on Steam will be fulfilled on Steam, and Steam owners will be able to access the game and any future updates or DLC through Steam.
We think the decision to remove the game is unfair to Steam customers, especially after a long pre-sale period. We apologise to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale through the February 15th release date, but we were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know.”
Steam assured its community members that Epic Store would honour the game purchased via Steam and would let Steam and other storefront release the game after February 2020 including DLC’s.
It seems like Epic Games will continue to poach games from their competitors they have been successful in getting games like Hades, Ashen, and Super Meat Boy Forever too.
