Elite Raids Explained Best Unbound Hoopa Counters in Pokemon Go

Pokemon GO trainers will be excited with the return of a new type of raid in the game. Elite Raids are something new for the raiding community of Pokemon GO, starting with the Hoopa Unbound. In this guide, we will show you what the Elite Raids are and what are the best counters while you face Hoopa Unbound in the game.

What are Elite Raids in Pokemon GO?

Pokemon Go What are Elite Raids

Elite Raids are new types of raids that focus on in-person play and will be a new challenge for the trainers. The raids will be a little more difficult than the Tier 5 difficulty and available at a few selected EX Gyms worldwide. The goal of Elite Raids is to rekindle the raiding community and bring them back together at the EX Gyms.

While taking part in Elite Raids in Pokemon GO, you will get Elite Raid Eggs that take 24 hours to hatch. However, once they hatch the trainers will have only 30 minutes to complete them. Since they have to be completed in person, planning is the key to meeting the time of the spawn.

While in the Elite Raids, you can catch Hoopa Unbound under the following Combat Power ranges:

    • 2197 CP – 2289 CP (no Weather Boost, LVL 20)
    • 2746 CP – 2862 CP (Windy or Fog weather, LVL 25)

Elite Raids Timer & When will they happen?

Elite Raids will be available at one of the following three local times:

    • 11 AM
    • 2 PM
    • 5 PM

24 hours prior to the raid, a special Raid Egg of red color will appear on top of an EX Gym. Along with that, Elite Raid Eggs will be visible on Nearby Radar and Niantic Campfire. However, Elite Raids will be infrequent in Pokemon GO for the time being. While this is the first of the raids, they will not necessarily be the last.

Do note that the first Elite Raid will take place on 16th October 2022, at 11 AM, 2 PM, or 5 PM local time, depending on when the Elite Raid Egg appears.

    Elite Raids Locations

While there are no specific locations for Elite Raids, they will appear in a few selected EX Gyms. The control of these Gyms is in the hands of Niantic. However, you can find the locations of Elite Raids in Pokemon GO through the Niantic Campfires and find the EX Gyms that will host the raid. Since the Elite Raid Egg appears on top of the EX Gym 24 hours prior, it will be easy to spot.

Best Hoopa Unbound Counters in Pokemon GO

The Elite Raid boss Hoopa Unbound is a dual Psychic and Dark Type Pokemon. Thus they are weak against Bug-type moves and Fairy-type moves. Hoopa Unbound is a real challenge and will keep the trainers on their toes in Pokemon GO. While facing this Raid Boss, you will need at least 5 allies with the aforementioned counters. The more the merrier is also a good idea for this raid.
