A great option is that of disengaging from battles where your opponents are far more superior than you. This will make sure that you do not end up dying and doing the same thing again.
To escape a battle in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot all you need to do is first disengage your lock from your enemy. This will ensure that you are free and no longer locked on to a single target. To do this press on the Right Thumbstick.
Once you this you are sort of halfway there, after this you will need to get as far away as you can from the battle. Once you go far away enough the battles will end.
You can only do this for open-world battles and not story battles which are a must, so make sure that you save up your energy and items for battles that are compulsory.
If you happen to defeat an enemy in the open world you can earn a good amount of XP so fighting enemies in the open world have its benefits as well.
