If you’re new to the game or diving back in after a while, seeing dinosaurs in your neighbor’s garden can be quite a surprise; however, the process to get these pets is simple. The Prehistoric Update in Grow a Garden brings exciting new content, including ancient crops, mutated seeds, dinosaur-themed cosmetics, and most importantly, the Dinosaur Egg. Hatching this egg gives you access to powerful dinosaur pets like the Raptor, Triceratops, and even the legendary T‑Rex. Here’s a step-by-step guide to obtaining a Dinosaur Egg.
How to Get a Dinosaur Egg in Grow a Garden
The Dinosaur Egg is a special egg introduced in Update 1.13, available exclusively during the Prehistoric Event. It takes 4 hours and 10 minutes to hatch into one of six possible dinosaur pets.
To get it, you can:
1. Complete Dino Quests
- Visit Blaire, the prehistoric NPC near the Quest station in the middle of the map.
- Check the Dino Quests window for event tasks that reward Dino Crates, Ancient Seed Packs, or Dinosaur Eggs.
- These quests reset every 12 hours, so keep doing them to progress the Dino Track.
2. Trade Pets with NPC Graham
- Head to Graham at the Pet Mutator at the center of the map
- Equip any pet that’s not a dinosaur and select “Give Pet”.
- After 60 minutes, your pet converts into a Dinosaur Egg.
- Offering higher-tier pets may improve your chances of hatching stronger dinosaur companions.
Apart from these, you can also exchange your pet with a dinosaur that your friend has unlocked.
Hatch time
Here’s the pet pool with hatch chances:
- Raptor – 35% – This pet has a chance to provide the Amber mutation to a fruit after collecting and it also gives extra movement speed to your character.
- Triceratops – 32.5% – This dinosaur will charge into 3 random plants and advance their growth by 33 minutes and 33 seconds, and there’s also chance for this ability to trigger again allowing it to stack.
- Stegosaurus – 28% – It has a chance to duplicate harvested fruit and it also has an extra chance to duplicate harvested prehistoric type plant.
- Pterodactyl – 3% – Occasionally, this pet will apply the Windstruck mutation to multiple fruits with a chance of replacing with the Twisted mutation. It also gives a boost to your jump height.
- Brontosaurus – 1% – Pets that hatch from eggs will have an increase in base size and weight thanks to this pet, but this size bonus has a cap and doesn’t apply to Brontosaurus.
- T‑Rex – 0.5% (Divine rarity) – It will randomly eat a mutation (Except Dawnbound) from a fruit and apply it to up to 3 other fruits in your garden.
