After a long silence, new information about the upcoming anime video game Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Kepputan has been announced. Among other things, two game modes have been confirmed.
Last year publisher Aniplex announced a video game adaptation of the anime series Demon Slayer, which is to be created in the development studio CyberConnect2 (Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot). After the title had been quiet for a long time, the creators of the title promised news about the game soon at the end of December 2020. They kept their word because, as Gematsu recently reported, new details about the anime game have now been revealed.
The new information comes from the current issue of the Japanese Weekly Shonen Jump magazine by Shueisha (Dragon Ball), which also publishes the Demon Slayer manga series in Japan. The report shows that, among other things, players can look forward to a story mode in which they can re-enact the plot of the anime template.
Furthermore, a battle mode tag should also be included, in which players can choose from different characters. The figures should be easy to control. It was also confirmed that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Hinokami Kepputan will no longer be released exclusively for the PlayStation 4. Instead, the battle action game will also be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PC. Further information should be given in the Weekly Shonen Jump edition of February 15, 2021.
The focus of the story of Demon Slayer is Tanjirou Kamado, who regularly visits a small village to sell charcoal. During his most recent visit, he heard rumors about an oni (demon) who is supposed to be up to mischief in the forest where he lives with his family. When he returned home the next morning, almost his entire family was murdered – only his younger sister Nezuko narrowly survived. From then on, it is Tanjirou’s goal to avenge the death of his family and to save his sister.
The game does not currently have an exact release date, but it should appear in Japan in 2021. A release for the West has not yet been officially confirmed.
