Surviving the harsh lands packed with zombies and other dangerous enemies can be stressful, so why not lighten the atmosphere with some good music? That’s where the Musician class in Dead Rails comes in. While other players are busy shooting, using melee weapons, and throwing Molotovs, you’ll just be happily strumming a banjo while ensuring that your teammates stay alive.
What is the Musician Class in Dead Rails?
The Musician is a support-focused class where your kill count doesn’t really matter. Your job is to provide your fellow players with healing, all through music. However, you cannot heal yourself with it, so you need to keep a stock of Snake Oil and Bandages for your own health. Another thing to note is that while you spawn with a Banjo, you don’t get any weapon or tool to protect yourself.
The Musician class costs 15 Bonds, which is highly affordable and can be a great option for new players who like playing as the medic. If you’re playing with friends, your class will work well with Ironclad and Vampire, making it a balanced team overall.
You’re not built to tank hits or charge into battle, so playing solo is close to impossible. Plus, you cannot transfer the Banjo to another player as a duo because they won’t be able to heal you with it.
The challenge, as a Musician class player, is to manage healing well because it can be quite slow. So, you can have multiple Musicians in a team to get more HP recovery. However, it needs coordination with your team, so it will work best if you’re playing with friends with voice comms. You will require consistent communication because, as the healer, you will have to stay behind the aggressive players to heal them without taking damage yourself.
If you’re playing with a powerful class that spawns with a melee weapon, you can take it from them for your protection. For instance, a Vampire may be able to help you out and in return you can help heal their sun damage. Note that, as of now, you can’t heal tamed animals with your Banjo.

Overall, the Musician is a class that you can try out for fun because of the music, especially since it’s helpful in Nightmare mode, because passive healing is disabled there. Many players recommend using the autoclicker for consistent healing, but use it at your own risk.
