Darkest Dungeon 2: How To Enable Ultrawide Resolution (21:9)

Updated Date :

With Redhook’s latest installment finally out, many players want to enable Ultrawide in Darkest Dungeon 2. Since the sequel has transitioned from 2D to 3D visuals, you might be expecting 21:9 resolution support for your huge monitors. While the early access did not have the Ultrawide resolution support, many players expected this feature on the game’s full release. But sadly, the devs at Red Hook have not added this feature as of now. Don’t worry, as we have a fix for the ultrawide resolution support. So, check out our guide to find out how to enable 21:9 resolution in DD2.

As there is no Ultrawide resolution support in Darkest Dungeon 2 currently, you can force to run it on the 21:9 resolution. For that, select the highest resolution available under the in-game Graphics Settings. In most cases, the highest resolution is 3840×2160. But as this can vary according to your monitors, your highest resolution can also be 3440×1440 or 2560×1080.

So, here’s how you can force and enable 21:9 ultrawide resolution in DD2:

  • Launch Darkest Dungeon 2 and head over to Settings.
  • Select the Graphics tab and toggle the Display mode to Windowed Mode.
  • Then, select the highest resolution available from different options. For the players having 21:9 monitors, this resolution will be either 3840×2160 or 3440×1440.
  • Press the Update button and change your Display mode back to Fullscreen mode.
  • Lastly, press the Update button again, to change your resolution.

This would set your in-game resolution to your monitor’s default ultrawide resolution. The best part about setting the ultrawide resolution is that you won’t see any black bars or stretched UI. Note that once you exit the game, you must follow the above steps again to switch to ultrawide resolution.

So, we will have to wait for a while till the devs release the support for 21:9 ultrawide resolution. We will update this guide if the devs add this feature in the future. Until then, check out our Darkest Dungeon 2 Class tier list for more insight.
