Pokemon is a game about becoming a trainer of wonderful Monsters and battling other Trainers to be the very best. This has been the motto of Pokemon from back in Generation 1 of Pokemon, 1996. After that, there were many Pokemon titles released and at the time of this article, there are 8 Generations and Gen 9 on the horizon. In Pokemon there are various typings, 18 to be exact. All of them with their Strengths & Weaknesses. One of which is the Dark Type. In this guide, I will talk about Dark Type and its Strengths & Weakness in Pokemon.
What is the Weakness of the Dark Type in Pokemon
The Dark Type in Pokemon was introduced in Gen 2 along with the Steel Type. It was introduced to weaken the power of the Psychic Type. In its introduction it was given:
- Dark Type Pokemon Weakness from Gen 1 to Gen 5 –
- Bug Type
- Fighting Type
- Dark Type Pokemon Weakness from Gen 6 onwards –
- Bug Type
- Fighting Type
- Fairy Type
What is the Dark Type?
As I have mentioned above, the Dark Type in Pokemon was introduced along with the Steel Type to balance the over-tuned Psychic Type Pokemon. As of Gen 8, its interactions with other types are:
- Super Effective against: Ghost Type & Psychic Type.
- Not Effective against: Dark Type, Fairy Type, & Fighting Type.
- Resists against: Dark Type & Ghost Type.
- Weak against: Bug Type, Fairy Type, & Fighting Type.
- Immune against: Psychic Type.
Dark Type Pokemons became very strong as they more or less shut every Pure Psychic Types. In turn, they became the new broken type along with Dragon Types &. To counteract that, Gen 6 brought in a new type and is still the newest Type to be introduced, the Fairy Type. The Fairy-Type Resists as well as deals Super Effective Damage to the Dark Types. Currently, the Fairy Type is the best in Pokemon and the Dark is a respectable Type. The Best dual typing you can have on the dark type would be the Ghost or Fairy Type.
