CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 is set in this futuristic metropolis where chaos reigns supreme, and the game is mainly set in Night City which has everything but the game isn’t just limited to this one particular city.
In a recent interview with VG24/7 lead quest designer Pawel Sasko said, “The Badlands are the surrounding district around the Night City. Players can leave Night City and just explore that area—an area that is mostly sort of destroyed basically after all the droughts and everything that happened in the 50 years from 2020 to ’77. And you can explore that, there are specific quests prepared for that, also open world content, so that’s definitely covered. It’s not only the city that you’re visiting.”
Badlands will often be occupied by gangs and the outskirts will be under the control of nomads. You can select this as your background when you start the game and begin your story with similar people around.
Cyberpunk 2077 is confirmed to have 6 major districts and many sub-districts in the game, it not exactly clear how big the map is but looking at the gameplay demos and trailers we can be certain that it is substantially big.
Other than just physical places, Cyberpunk 2077 also has virtual places where you can explore, this place is called Cyberspace.
“Basically the cyberspace in our game is this extremely dark, grim place from the past. It’s a past that has been divided by the black wall” said Sasko.
This is where your skills as a good Netrunner might come in handy.
There seem to be way too many things to explore in Cyberpunk 2077 and not just focus on main missions, other things make the game feel more factual and gives a better experience.
