To unlock customization play in Nitro-Fueled mode, customization does not work in Classic mode. When you start racing in the Nitro-Fueled adventure mode you can access to different customization option that will unlock new skins for the kart.
Go to the Character Skin and select Kart Options, you can select different skins for Bodies, Wheels, Paint Jobs and Sticker. Each section offer a list of different customizations you can use. Every customization come with a cost and it can be unlocked by paying through Gold Coins.
