Crab Cages are items that will collect trash or if you’re lucky, fish, when you place them in water. Earlier, you could spam and place hundreds in a particular location, however, that has been patched out now. But it’s still a nice way to passively catch certain fish, while you’re busy actively fishing in other locations. How to Get Crab Cages in Fisch
To obtain Crab Cages, you need to visit the Merchant in Moosewood and Sunstone Island and you’ll see some kept for sale nearby. Interact with the cages, confirm your purchase and you will get them instantly.
There are more locations where you can get them if you’re not in the aforementioned islands at the moment. Head under the watchtower in Mushgrove Swamp, or find the Beach Keepers or Innkeepers and there should be some cages nearby as well. In case you’re in the Desolate Deep, you can find them behind the Innkeeper on the right side of the cave. Plus, players can also find them near the Merchant if they take the left side.
Crab Cages cost only 45C$ so you should be able to buy multiple easily and you’ll need to because it’s a single-use item. Crabs, Oysters and Lobsters are best caught with this item, and in the Desolate Deep, you can catch Sea Mines with it.
How to Place a Crab Cage
- If you want to place a cage in open waters, make sure your character is standing on something sturdy like your boat, surfboard, etc., because you can’t place one while swimming.
- In case you’re on land and trying to place one on the shore, wait till the cage shows up in the water in bright green. This means that it can be put there and doesn’t overlap with the other cages kept next to it.
- The waiting time to catch something can be anything from 2 to 5 minutes.
- When something has been caught, you’ll see an orange exclamation mark appear and some orange particles will start coming out from it. You can now press and hold E to claim what’s inside. Then you can decide whether to keep it or sell it.
There are a few things to remember while using a Crab Cage in Fisch:
- You can place it in any water body like the Ocean, pond, or the shore.
- Every Crab Cage will have the name of whoever placed it, and it cannot be stolen by other players, so you can fish elsewhere without any worries. However, if you close the game without collecting the catch from your cage, it will be gone.
- As of the 1.06.1 update, the Crab Cage has been nerfed in terms of XP received.
