There are different types of Prisons available:
Thought-Correction Prison: This is a prison with therapy wings using innovative methods to cure criminals of their impulses and rehabilitate them as functional members of society. This significantly decreases Crime, Trust falls slightly, and unlocks the Mobilise Prison Wardens District ability which provides additional Guard Squads but reduces the Prison’s effect on Crime. It also adds 500 capacity for Detainees.
Punitive Prison: This has built-in equipment to discipline criminals and re-educate them using corporal punishment. Tension slightly increases due to this and Crime greatly decreases. This unlocks the Conscript Inmates District ability, which provides additional Guard Squads but reduces the Prison’s effect on Crime. And yes, this also adds 500 capacity for Detainees.
Isolation Prison: This is a Prison where hardened criminals are locked up to serve their sentences. The outcome for Crime and the District Ability is similar to Thought-Correction Prison.
Isolation Prison is an idea that New Londoners and Frostlanders agree with, and it doesn’t have any negative outcome related to Tension or Trust, so it can be the first Prison you build.
That’s everything you need to know to get started with building Prisons in Frostpunk 2. In this survival game, you will have to manage a lot of things like Crime, Hunger, Disease, Squalor and Tension, and we’ve got the steps to do exactly that.
