Iron Thorns is a part of the post-game unlockables in Pokemon Violet. This Rock/Electric dual-type Pokemon is a robotic version of Tyranitar. Compared to its previous iterations, these titles have a plethora of content for you to explore. Along with the standard Victory Road, you get two more storylines. But the game doesn’t end there. You still have to explore Area Zero. This area will have some Paradox Pokemon that you have to stop from getting out into Paldea. As these Paradox Pokemon are exclusive to their titles, you may not find some. To help you catch Iron Thorns, we will tell you their location in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Note that this Pokemon is exclusive to the Violet version. To get it in the Scarlet version, you will have to trade it with another trainer.
Where to Catch Iron Thorns in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
To catch Iron Thorns in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you have to travel to Area Zero Gate. To do so, you have to complete all three storylines in this game. You can check our guide on how to get to Area Zero for more information. Once you unlock this area, you can travel to the Great Crater of Paldea and enter the Zero Gate. Inside, you will find a whole new biome with Pokemon exclusive to that area. Among them, you will find this metalized Tyranitar.
The best place to look for Iron Thorn in Area Zero is near Research Station One. These stations act as checkpoints through this area and you have to unlock them. To unlock Research Station One, you have to beat Glimmora, a Rock/Poison dual-type Pokemon. Once you unlock it, we suggest you search the vicinity of this station and you will find Iron Thorns.
To catch it, you will have to weaken it in a battle. As we mentioned, this is a Rock/Electric dual-type Pokemon. So Fighting, Water, Ground, and Grass-type moves will be effective against it. We also suggest you carry a Pokemon with the move False Swipe. This will ensure that Iron Thorns does not faint by accident.
