Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Bug Disconnects PlayStation Controller, Here’s How To Fix It

Since yesterday Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is officially available in stores, where we plunge into the turmoil of the Cold War. However, the joy of the latest title of the Black Ops saga was apparently quickly clouded for some players. Currently, according to reports, among others, some details from PS4 gamers are increasing who write of a massive bug that prevents them from playing the game, as a bug disconnects the PlayStation controller while playing Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

The said bug can occur at the beginning of the third mission of the single-player campaign called Fractured Jaw. The error ensures that the DualShock 4 will turn off and will not turn back on. The PlayStation 4 must therefore be switched off and restarted manually in order to be able to use it normally again. Although mainly PS4 players who want to play through the story of Black Ops Cold War complain about it, the bug should also affect multiplayer matches and the zombie mode.

First, a user reported this problem on Reddit. Subsequently, however, it turned out that said player was by no means an isolated case. In the meantime, numerous PlayStation 4 players have complained about the bug on social media and hope that the developers responsible at Treyarch and Raven Software will soon help. So far, however, neither the two studios nor publisher Activision Blizzard has commented on this problem.

Black Ops Cold War: How to Solve the PS4 Controller from Disconnecting

There are others who are now describing one way of overcoming the bug and continuing the campaign. As they explain, the following steps could help to solve the problem: First, the console must be switched off and then switched on again. Then the controller should be connected to the PS4 via USB cable. Then go to “Settings” in the home menu of the console, here to “Devices” and then to “Controller”. Select “Communication method” and then switch from “Use Bluetooth” to “Use USB cable”. As we can report from our own passable experience, this does not always work.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was released on November 13, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S as well as the PC. A version for PlayStation 5 will be released in Europe on November 19, 2020.
