Exploring the outskirts of Emerald Grove in Baldur’s Gate 3, you may come across two mysterious items— the Shaft and the Head of a Broken Spear. At first glance, they seem like random junk, but they can be combined to form a powerful weapon. This spear packs a punch, but you’ll need to find both pieces first. We’ll explain where to locate and how to join the two pieces together of the Broken Spear in BG3.
The Shaft and Head of Broken Spear Location in BG3
The Shaft of the Broken Spear
The Shaft of the Broken Spear can be found on the body of Edowin in the Forest. Edowin’s corpse is located at coordinates X: 136 Y: 446. To get there from the front entrance of Emerald Grove, go right and continue down the path until you encounter Edwin and two companions. After the cutscene, loot Edowin’s body to obtain the Shaft.
The Head of the Broken Spear
The Head of the Broken Spear is found in the Owlbear Nest at coordinates X: 86 Y: 448. This cave entrance is near where you find Edowin. Go inside the nest and defeat the Owlbear to loot the Head of the Broken Spear from its corpse.
How to Combine Pieces to Fix the Broken Spear
Once you have both pieces, open your inventory and right-click on one of them. Choose the “Combine” option, place the other piece in the empty box and click “Combine.” This will form the complete Vision of the Absolute spear.
The Vision of the Absolute Spear deals up to 9 physical damage per hit. It also can bind enemies who fail a Dexterity saving throw. Additionally, it deals up to 12 bonus damage against creatures with multiple sets of eyes, like spiders. This makes it very useful early in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, you’ll likely find better weapons later in the game, so the Broken Spear is best for a damage boost in the early stages.
