The Blood Moon Event in Grow a Garden is a limited-time night cycle that replaces the standard Night with a different version, offering extended duration and exclusive rewards for players who farm and mutate crops under its blood-red glow. Introduced on May 17, 2025, this event features a 33% chance to spawn in place of a normal Night, lasts 15 minutes instead of the usual 10, and grants your crops a 4x Bloodlit mutation chance when struck by the Night Staff or during the cycle.

What is the Blood Moon Event in Grow a Garden?
As mentioned earlier, each Night cycle has a 33% probability of becoming a Blood Moon, meaning on average, you’ll see one every three nights. A Blood Moon lasts 15 minutes, compared to the standard Night’s 10 minutes. Crops during a Blood Moon can turn Bloodlit, multiplying their value by 4x when the Night Staff activates the mutation.
Note that the overall tone of the map becomes red and spotting Bloodlit plants can get a little confusing. You can wait until the event is over to spot them during day time. Visually, the fruit will get a red VFX effect around it similar to the purple effect of Moonlit fruits.
When the Blood Moon begins, a red sky envelops your server. Players can then use the Night Staff gear to grant the Bloodlit mutation to crops at night. Unlike regular nights, Blood Moons also trigger a special shop to emerge, giving you access to exclusive items and limited-time stock. You can find it next to the Wise Old Owl.
To improve your chances of catching a Blood Moon, keep an eye on the Night timer in-game and start playing as soon as it’s time. It’s not guaranteed that the night will be a Blood Moon, but if you’re lucky, it might just be. You can also harvest the fruits before the event so that the new ones that appear have a good chance of being Bloodlit.
