Black Myth: Wukong has seen unprecedented success, with the game hitting an all-time peak of 2,415,714 players on Steam when it was released. Even at the time of writing, there are more than 627,000 players actively playing the game, which is huge. Due to this popularity, many have jumped into the title only to realize that the difficulty is no joke. This brings us to the question – is there a way to make Black Myth: Wukong easier?

Does Black Myth: Wukong Have Difficulty Settings?

No, the game does not have adjustable difficulty settings. It is designed to provide a consistent level of challenge, similar to many other Souls-like games. This means that the difficulty remains relatively consistent throughout the game, regardless of your skill level.

Why is the Game So Hard?

The game is heavily inspired by the Souls series, known for their demanding combat and unforgiving difficulty. This includes elements like precise timing, stamina management, and challenging boss encounters. Enemies in Black Myth: Wukong have sophisticated AI, making them aggressive and unpredictable. Boss fights in Black Myth: Wukong are particularly demanding. They require careful strategy, precise execution, and a deep understanding of your character’s abilities.

How to Make Black Myth Wukong Easier?

The game will be slightly less challenging if you have experience in Soulslike games because you’re already prepared for a tough time – mentally and skill-wise.

As you progress, though, you’ll gain new abilities and upgrades that can make the game easier. Looking up videos and guides that offer tips and tricks will come in handy because many have figured out some interesting ways to defeat enemies faster. You can also explore Reddit for more ideas from fellow players.

A combination of an OP weapon, good spells, equipment, transformations, armor, upgraded gourds, and overall build will make your character powerful enough to take down bosses.

Another aspect that makes Wukong tough is that resting at a shrine will respawn enemies, similar to how the Blood Moon revives dead enemies in Zelda games. However, once The Destined One is strong enough to beat them, they provide a great way to farm crucial resources.

Black Myth: Wukong requires a lot of patience because boss fights are demanding, requiring multiple attempts that can span hours or even days. You have to master gameplay elements like getting the perfect timing of dodges, parrying, and understanding boss attack patterns.

If you’ve played Elden Ring, Black Myth is much more forgiving comparatively because you don’t lose hard-earned resources when you die. But if you play games like God of War, it’s going to be quite hard in comparison.

This type of challenge has divided players. Those who are used to this genre are (of course) enjoying it, while those who are new to it, or simply don’t enjoy the ‘frustrating’ side of soulslike/soulslite games are annoyed. There are a total of 113 bosses in the game, so the challenge stays high till the end.

If you’re looking for a more lenient experience, you might want to consider other games that offer adjustable difficulty settings. However, if you enjoy a tough fight and are willing to put in the time to master the game, Black Myth: Wukong can be a very rewarding experience.
