Since the game has a wide arsenal of weapons, there is no shortage of them. The same goes for your Enemies. Hence why you will need to have the Best Shield for Parrying, that is if you want to use Shields. In this guide, I will show you the Best Shield for Parrying in Elden Ring.

There is a wide variety of Shields and all of them have the capability of Parrying. The one I recommend using which is the best Shield for Parrying in Elden Ring is the Buckler. As a base Shield with no added effects, the Buckler has about 12 active parry frames. That means it will parry any attack in its 12 frames. Active Parry Frames are the number of Frames that a Shield will parry any attack. The more active parry frames, the better the Parrying Shield. The Buckler can be obtained from the base kit of the Bandit class or the Bell Bearing of Gatekeeper Gostoc. He can be found after you defeat Godrick the Grafted.

The Buckler is good for only Parrying & not Blocking. So, if you want the best of both Worlds, then you will have to use an Ash of War. Specifically the Golden Parry or Carian Retaliation Ashes of War. Both Ashes of War have 13 active parry frames which are more than the base Buckler. Once you apply the Ashes of War, it overrides the existing active parry frames of that Shield. So you can use a Medium Shield with one of these Ashes of War and it will be better than base Buckler.

This was all about the Best Shield for Parrying in Elden Ring. Hopefully, this guide has helped you. You can also check out our guide on the Arsenal Charm in Elden Ring.
