Milton DsouzaBy Milton DsouzaMay 16, 2023Updated:May 16, 20233 Mins Read

Lightning in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom can inflict up to 14.5 hearts of damage and also knock off any weapon that Link is holding. Along with the menacing bosses and other hostile enemies, the weather is an equally fierce enemy that Link has to face. Since it’s not always possible to get more Hearts in Zelda TOTK at least early in the game, dealing with lightning strikes can be tricky. However, there is actually a way to avoid Lightning in Tears of the Kingdom. Read our guide to find out.

How to Avoid Lightning Strikes in Tears of the Kingdom

If you want to avoid lightning in TOTK, then simply unequip any weapons, shields, bows, and other items made of metal. You can tell when you’re about to be struck by lightning as soon as yellow sparks form around you. They will happen faster when the lightning is just a few seconds away.

You should act as a bad conductor of electricity by removing all metal items to avoid Lightning in Zelda TOTK. Once you do that, the Lightning will no longer target you. So, how do you spot the difference between wooden and metal items? Well, the game actually makes it quite easy for us. Whenever you’re in a thunderstorm, open your inventory and you will find yellow sparks on all items that attract Lightning. Quickly unequip the weapons, bows, and arrows that have yellow sparks over them.

However, you can’t avoid lightning completely as there will still be lightning storms around you. These can turn into dangerous fires putting Link at risk. And also, they might create a hindrance as you explore the overworld in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. So, what is the safest way to avoid lightning strikes completely? Read on to find out.

How to Stop Rain and Lightning in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The best way to avoid being struck by lightning in Zelda TOTK is by sleeping and changing the time of the day. You can stop rain and thunder in the game by sleeping at Emergency Shelters or near Campfires.

That’s all you need to know on how to avoid lightning in Tears of the Kingdom. Since you’re here and need some tips on exploring, here are a few guides on how to start a Campfire and what to do first during early-game. And for all other guides, head to our Zelda TOTK section on Gamer Tweak.
