Hogwarts Legacy is a game based on the Harry Potter universe in the late 1800s. This means that the events in the game take place before anything the books and movies have presented so far. As the game travels back in time, we get to see some ancestors of Harry Potter characters in Hogwarts legacy. Let us take a look at all the ancestors that make an appearance in the game.
All Ancestors that Appear in Hogwarts Legacy
There are three significant ancestors that players will get to see in Hogwarts Legacy. These belong to the prominent Black, Weasley, and Gaunt families. Let us look at each of the ancestors appearing in Hogwarts Legacy below.
Phineas Nigellus Black
The least popular headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will be making an appearance in Hogwarts Legacy. He believes in pureblood superiority and was sorted into Slytherin House during his time at Hogwarts. He is an ancestor of the great Black Family.
We see many of his descendants in the Harry Potter books and movies. He is the great-great-grandfather of Sirius Black, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Narcissa Malfoy. In addition, he is also an ancestor to Nymphadora Tonks and Draco Malfoy.
Matilda Weasley
The Weasley family remains one of the most beloved families for fans of Harry Potter. We will also get to know one of the ancestors of this family through Hogwarts Legacy. Matilda Weasley is the Transfigurations professor and deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts. She is a kindly witch who helps players early in the game.
The Transfigurations professor has red hair like the majority of the Weasley family. She was also sorted in Gryffindor House like the entire Weasley family. While the exact nature of the ancestry is not yet known, we know that she is an ancestor of Arthur Weasely. This automatically also makes her an ancestor of all the Weasley children.
Ominis Gaunt
The Gaunt family prides itself on being one of the oldest pureblood families. In Hogwarts Legacy, players will be introduced to Ominis Gaunt who is a Slytherin student. He is friends with Sebastian Sallow who wants to use Dark Magic to help his sister.
His family is one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight alongside the Black and Weasley families. He is the descendant of Salazar Slytherin. We see many of his descendants in the Harry Potter books and movies. The most notable of these was Tom Riddle. He is also an ancestor of Marvolo Gaunt, Morfin Gaunt, and Merope Riddle.
