God of War Ragnarok PC Port Release Date

Here's all you need to know about the God of War Ragnarok PC port Release date.

As a PlayStation exclusive, God of War Ragnarok was released for PS4 and PS5 players on November 9, 2022. However, previous exclusives have made their way to PC after a while, which brings us to the question – is there a God of War Ragnarok PC port release date? Here’s everything that’s known.

God of War Ragnarok PC Release Date

There’s no official confirmation yet about a PC release date for God of War Ragnarok, but the signs are pointing towards a likely yes in the future. Here’s why.

Previous exclusives releasing on PC

In recent years, Sony has increasingly ported its PlayStation exclusives to PC, with titles like Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection releasing on the platform. If we consider this a pattern and how it gives its console exclusives a chance to get a wider audience, God of War Ragnarok PC won’t be far behind.

PlayStation being open to more PC ports

Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, told Reuters in an interview, “Further investments in areas that will strengthen the expansion on to PC, on to mobile and into live services, that’s a possibility for us.” So, this indicates that Sony is eyeing more releases for PC players.

God of War (2018) on PC was a massive success

The 2018 God of War reboot was a huge success on PC. The game was released in January 2022 and by March 2022, the PC version had sold 971,000 copies. This is proof that PC players are waiting to explore Kratos’ story which is why Sony won’t likely miss out on releasing the sequel on the platform.

It’s worth noting that God of War (2018) was released on Windows in 2022 which is about 4 years later. If we consider a similar timeline; GoW Ragnarok released in November 2022, so we can expect the God of War Ragnarok PC release date to be approximately in 2026.

Porting a game like Ragnarok to PC can be a complex process because it has to be optimized for different hardware configurations for the best possible performance, without major bugs. This will take time and lots of testing due to which players may have to wait for multiple years.

Sony said that they will continue “rolling out catalog titles for PC” but did not specify any release windows or dates. Due to this statement, fans are also awaiting another big PlayStation game – Ghost of Tsushima on PC.

If you’re eager to experience Ragnarok but don’t have a PlayStation, you can always check out the 2018 God of War on PC. It’s a fantastic game that will give you a taste of what to expect from the sequel.
