Valheim: How to Tame A Boar

Here's a quick guide on how to tame a boar in Valheim.

The much-awaited survival game, Valheim’ has finally released and it is performing quite well on Steam. There are numerous wild animals that you will encounter throughout the game and each of them has a unique or useful resource on them. Instead of hunting them down for their raw meat, there are certain animals that you will need to tame in Valheim and of them is a Boar.

Since the game has released and has not explained the process of taming Boar, we have curated a guide explaining the same in the simplest way possible.

Valheim: How to Tame A Boar

Unlike other games, taming an animal in Valeheim is a bit complicated. To tame a Boar, you will have to find food in the forest that can be offered to the Boar. The food that you should find are mushrooms, berries, or carrots.

Once you have all of the said food on your hotbar, make sure not to click on the items because if you do so, your character will consume the selected item. To tame a boar in Valheim, you will have to toss the food on the ground. Make sure to toss the food where the boar can easily come and consume.

If the boar sees that food, he will come and eat it. When the boar starts eating the food, you will notice a Yellow heart appearing over his head. If he eats the item, he will start acting like a domestic animal. Make sure to wait until the boar consumes enough of the plant to be tamed by you.

There are numerous players who have been suggesting to use cages to tame a boar in the game. Once the boar enters the cage, they toss the food on the ground and wait until the boar becomes domesticated. If you don’t want to go to the forest then you can opt for this option.

Once you have successfully tamed boars in Valeheim, you can feed them carrots. When you have multiple domesticated boars and create baby boars, which allow you to farm leather scraps and raw meat.

That’s everything you need to know about how to tame a boar in Valeheim. For more details do not forget to visit our Valheim Wiki Guide for cheats, boss fights, rare resource locations, etc.
