According to its in-game description, Thorns deals damage to enemies after they hit you with a direct attack. It’s not as easy as you think it is. Thorns is a passive offensive mechanism that damages an enemy after it attacks you in Diablo 4.

Now there are a few things that must be cleared. Thorns do not work when you have been inflicted with an overtime damage status effect. Please keep in mind that Thorns do not make you invincible in Diablo IV. In fact, you would still be taking damage, but a small portion of it would be dealt to the enemy.

How to Get & Increase Thorns Damage in D4

Here’s how you can gain Thorns in Diablo 4.

  • Learn any of the following Skills
    • Spiked Armor (Necromancer)
    • Combat Flay (Barbarian)
    • Strategic Challenging Shout (Barbarian)
    • Outburst (Barbarian)
  • Equip any of the following Armor
    • Razorplate Chest Armor
    • Ring of Mendeln
    • Rage of Harrogath
  • Equip any of the following Legendary Aspects
    • Death Wish Aspect (For Barbarian Class only)
    • Needleflare Aspect (For all the classes)

The amount of damage dealt to the enemy with the Thorns stat can be increased by amplifying the primary stat of your character. For instance, Intelligence is the primary stat of a Necromancer and Strength goes with the Barbarians.

What is the Best Class for Thorns in Diablo 4

As mentioned above, Thorns do not make you immortal and you will still take damage. Keeping this in mind, you must only select a Tank character that stays in the battle for long. That being said, classes like Barbarians & Druids are the best of Thorns in D4.
