Here's how to find rare seeds in Stardew Valley and how you can use the Sweet Gem Berry crop that grows from it.
If you looking to get a Sweet Gem berry, you will need a Rare seed in Stardew Valley. In this guide, we will take a look at how a rare seed grows and how to use it to get a useful crop. Plus, find out if it’s worth it if you compare it with an Ancient Seed.
There are two ways to obtain the Rare Seed in this game – by purchasing it from a merchant and by using the Seed Maker. It takes 24 days to grow and the process can be sped up if you use a fertilizer or if you have the Agriculturist Profession.
Players can buy Rare Seeds from the Traveling cart shop by interacting with the Merchant there. It will appear at Cindersap Forest which is a location that’s south of the Farm. Take the path near Marnie’s Ranch to get there easily. It is open from 6am to 8pm on Friday and Sunday and if you miss that, then you can check out the Night Market from 5pm to 2am. It is closed from Monday to Thursday as well as Saturday.
During Spring and Summer seasons, the Rare seed can be purchased for 1,000g. You can sell it for 200g if you are short of cash. If you visit the merchant during other seasons, there’s a 1.26% chance of getting the Rare seed at a cost of 600 to 1000g.
If you have reached Farming level 9, you can craft a Seed Maker. The crafting recipe requires you to collect 25 Wood, 1 Gold Bar, and 10 Coal. From a Sweet Gem Berry, you can get more Rare Seeds.
Once you complete the Dye Bundle on the Bulletin Board, you can get also a Seed Maker or you can find it in a treasure room in the Skull Cavern.
Other than this, it is not used in any recipe.
A Sweet Gem Berry has an incredible selling price of 3000g. A Rare seed is not considered as a fruit or vegetable and cannot be used in a Keg or Preserves Jar as well. It does have a good value but, as mentioned before, it’s a neutral gift. If you are on the hunt for Stardrop, it’s worth to plant Rare seeds.
But if you have the option to plant Ancient seeds, then that is more profitable in terms of money. They yield Ancient Fruit and it takes 28 days to grow. After harvest, it will get regrowth after 7 days and the Ancient Fruit has a few uses too. Many villagers like it, many are neutral towards it, some dislike it (Abigail, Haley, Vincent & Jas).
So based on these few pointers and what you are expecting/planning next, you can decide to plant a particular seed.
That’s all for this one. We’ve got lots more Stardew Valley guides for you on Gamer Tweak that you can check out right away.
