Can P.T. be played on the PS5? There have been contradicting statements on this topic in the past few hours without any clear confirmation.
Silent Hills was once one of the most anticipated games. But quite surprisingly, the project was canceled and the creator Hideo Kojima left Konami. Only the P.T. demo was retained by all those players who downloaded the game in good time before being removed from the PlayStation Store.
In a few weeks, there will be a generation change, which raised the question of whether P.T. can be played on the PS5. After all, the new Sony console has backwards compatibility. And the feelings of the fans have been put to the test in the past few hours.
Initially, Gamesradar said that P.T. will not support the backward compatibility of the PS5. An email was received in which Konami emphasized that “the content will not be available on the PS Store, so users won’t be able to re-download the content through the backwards compatibility feature to the PS5.”
That was not the last word: Gematsu then pointed out that Konami’s explanation only refers to the fact that the “game” cannot be downloaded from the PlayStation Store. However, there is the option of transferring the P.T. demo from the PS4 to the PS5, which is made possible via the data transfer.
However, Gematsu is not really sure whether the demo can run properly on the PS5. “You should be able to transfer P.T. to PS5 without issue. Whether it runs properly remains to be seen as it was likely not tested by SIE. But given the fact that there were only 10 PS4 titles (eight now) not playable on PS5, chances are high it will work,” according to the publication.
In fact, Sony announced a few days ago that almost all PS4 games will be supported by the PS5. Only a few exceptions are left out. However, there have already been voices from developers who are considering adopting it. The PS5 will be released on November 12, 2020. By then at the latest, you can test your PS4 games on the new console – including P.T.
