Ed Boon Reveals The Origins Behind Scorpion’s Famous Catchphrase In Mortal Kombat

Ed Boon recently revealed how the term Get Over Here popularized by Scorpion in Mortal Kombat came into being and how it has progressed over the years

Awaiting the release of highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 11, Ed Boon has revealed the origins of Scorpions famous catchphrase “Get Over Here”. Boon revealed that during the development of Mortal Kombat during its early stages every employee of Midway Games was invited to lend their voice.

Working on a shoestring budget the developers worked hard on delivering their product but this famous catchphrase originated from a completely different game altogether.

Back when Midway was developing Mortal Kombat, there was another game in the works titled High Impact Football, and the intensity of that game carried over when recording lines of Mortal Kombat.

Ed states, “We were still kinda in that mode, and I was one of the guys yelling in High Impact Football, so I was the guy to yell as Scorpion,”.

The line has since become infamous with the video game industry and popular culture, as a couple of movies were made, taking advantage of the success of the game.

Scorpion has been one of the main cast of the Mortal Kombat series and his fights with Sub-Zero are one of the key points of the entire franchise.

Scorpio can be seen on the cover of Mortal Kombat 11 which is scheduled to release on 22nd of April 2019 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
