To survive in Soulmask, you will need to know how to catch fish. You can find Piranhas and Electric Eels in water bodies, which can be cooked to prepare Fish Soup, Fish Hotchpotch, Seafood Quinoa Rice, Cooked Fish and if it goes bad, you get Carrion as well. Since it’s a source of food and you’ll need plenty of it consistently, here’s how to get started with fishing in Soulmask.
To catch fish, you need a Fishing Trap. This will automatically capture nearby fish when the appropriate baits are added. The list of baits available as of now are locusts, poisonous bugs and fresh meat.
You can craft a Fishing Trap with 5x Branches, 5x Leather and 20x Thick Rope and once you have the ingredients, create this trap manually. Check for Fishing Trap under the Bonfire section > Animal Breeding.
Branches can be obtained by chopping down trees, Leather can be crafted with 1x Tanning Fluid at the Tanning Rack and Thick Rope can be crafted manually with 3x Vine. If you don’t have Tanning Fluid yet, you can craft it with 2x Vine and 2x Tree Bark at the Tanning Rack.
Now, visit a water body such as a river or a lake. You can take a dive underwater to check if there are fishes swimming in there. If yes, set a fishing trap with a bait. Don’t forget the bait, because without it, the fish won’t be lured in!
Once you’ve done that, you can leave the area to do something else in-game and come back here later because it will take some time.
When you’re back, you should see some trapped fish that you can hit to kill and use as food in Soulmask! Take a look at the crafting recipes so that you can gather the rest of the ingredients you need.
If you’d like to breed Piranha’s, you can build a Piranha Pool. The process to catch Piranhas for this purpose remains the same, the only difference is to not attack them when they’re caught. Instead, bring them back for breeding. To build the Pool you will need 960 Water Consumption, 48 Stone Bricks, 20 Hardwood Planks, 10 Hardwood Handles and 20 Thin Ropes.
