Tails aka Miles “Tails” Prower is eight years old during the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Yasushi Yamaguchi, the main artist and level designer for the Sonic team, designed him with the image of a five-year-old. But despite that, his official age was settled at 8 years old. Being Sonic’s sidekick and best friend, Tails is half his age. That means he was about six years old during the first Sonic the Hedgehog game.
The launch of Sonic 2 marked the first appearance of Tails. From there on forth, he has been one of the most popular Sonic characters of all time. Among his several awards, he won the Best New character in Electronic Gaming Monthly’s 1992 Video Game Awards.
