Start your world and go to some ocean.
Look for Ocean monuments here. Near these monuments, you can find the guardian and elder guardian mobs.
Eliminate them and they will drop Prismarine shards and they also have a chance to drop prismarine crystals. It isn’t a guarantee that they will drop crystals each time. So if you need crystals you will have to eliminate a lot more as compared to when you need shards.
