Sony Allows One Free PSN Online ID Change, Later Changes Cost $10

Change Sony PSN Online ID will be free for the first time, the next change will carry a small fee different for non-PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Recently rumors stated that Sony is working on a feature that will allow PlayStation users to change their Online ID and pick the best name they want. Before this, the feature was not available and once you had selected a name it remains the same forever. Finally, Sony has implemented a way for gamers to modify their Online PSN ID, but there are certain issues with it.

Changing ID for once is allowed for free, subsequent changes will cost around $10 for non-PS plus users and $5 for PS Plus users. The feature will get active on April 10 for all PS4 users and April 11 for the European region. Users can modify the ID using the browser and reverting back to old ID is free.

Games releasing after April 1, 2018, will be able to accept the change, while older one will have issues. Games, after released After the above-mentioned date, are developed to support ID changes, while the older are not. Sony has shared three important Games List that is necessary to look once you go for changes.

  2. Games with Issues Identified
  3. Games with Critical Issues

Please go through the respective list and perform a search for the game you own in the list to confirm about common issues.

How To change PSN online ID on your PS4 or web browser.

PlayStation 4:

  1. From your PS4 go to [Settings].
  2. Select [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Profile] > [Online ID].
  3. Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.

Web browser:

  1. Sign in to your PlayStation Network account and select PSN Profile in the menu.
  2. Select the Edit button that’s next to your Online ID.
  3. Enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.
    Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the change.
