Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Will Cost $70 on PS5 & Xbox Series X

As Activision admitted, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will cost a little more on the two next-gen consoles of Xbox Series X and PS5. In addition, there will be no free upgrade to the respective next-gen version.

In the course of yesterday evening the first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was finally officially announced. In addition, Activision gave further details on the implementation for the two next-generation consoles.

As the company admitted, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will cost $70 USD on PS5 or Xbox Series X. For this reason, a free update to the respective next-gen version is waived. If you want to switch from the PS4 to the PS5 or from the Xbox One to the Xbox Series X at a later date, you should purchase the cross-gen bundle, which is $10 more expensive, according to Activision.

With this, you can switch from the PS4 or Xbox One to the corresponding next-gen version. If, on the other hand, you should buy the retail version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on the PS4 or Xbox One, you will be asked to pay an additional $10 when you switch to the new generation of consoles. At the same time, the said next-gen upgrade is also available for the digital current-gen version.

Those who do without the paid upgrade can, of course, play Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on the PS5 and Xbox Series X via the downward compatibility of the consoles – but then without any technical improvements. According to official information, the title on the PS5 and Xbox Series X has received various technical optimizations such as a higher frame rate, hardware ray tracing, shorter loading times, and more.

All further details about the shooter’s cross-generation program can be found on the official website.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will release on November 13, 2020 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The implementations for the two next-generation consoles, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, are expected to follow when the consoles are launched.
