Apex Legends Brings In Quit Game Penalty By Accident

Apex Legends accidentally enabled the penalties for players who quit the game prematurely by accident and disable it. This has been one of the most asked about features in the game.

Watching opponents leave in the middle of the game is one of the most frustrating things in online gaming and this seems to be plaguing Apex Legends quite a lot, and that’s why Respawn has brought in a fix to penalize gamers who leave a match mid-way or just disappear, but while they could implement it successfully they accidentally set this feature to go live before this was even ready.

A statement was released in the Apex Legends subreddit by community manager Jay Frechette who said,

“So internally, we have been working on and testing this feature but it wasn’t our intention or plan to have it go live with the update (April 4). There was a piece of script that was missing and caused the leaving match early penalty to be turned on when it shouldn’t be. That’s why it wasn’t in the patch notes. We updated the script, tested with QA and it’s now disabled for all platforms. We don’t have an ETA for if or when this would come out for real. Apologies for the confusion”.

The new update though brought in some of the highly requested features to the game like being able to invite a member of your last squad to your party or, the addition of squad invites to the Friends menu. The new 1.1 update has made the game much simpler in terms of connecting with preferable teammates.

Hopefully the quit early penalty comes into the game soon enough which will see a lot of players stay in the game and not abandon a match as soon as it begins without repercussions. Though by the developer comments it seems highly unlikely we will get to see it implemented soon enough.
